I’m Tim, a Cambridge-qualified English teacher based in London. I created The English Book Room for adults who want to use English to explore stories, exchange ideas and connect with other thoughtful readers.

Why the Book Room exists
Something more meaningful than another English class.
After more than seven years teaching adults online—and earlier teaching in Argentina—I kept seeing the same problem. Learners often knew a great deal of English, but they lacked relaxed, regular opportunities to express real opinions and develop an idea in conversation.
A good book changes that. It gives everyone a shared experience, a reason to think and something genuinely worth discussing. Language practice becomes the result of the conversation rather than an exercise performed for its own sake.
My role is not to lecture you about literature or interrupt every mistake. I select engaging material, provide the language support you need and guide the discussion so that everyone has time to contribute.
